La historia
María llegó al aeropuerto muy temprano. Iba a pasar cuatro días de vacaciones en una ciudad de la costa. Llevaba una mochila pequeña y un celular en la mano. Su idea era tomar un autobús al centro y descansar en el hotel.
Cuando bajó del avión, vio una fila larga en la zona de equipaje. Una empleada anunció que una maleta se había quedado en el aeropuerto de salida. María revisó su boleto y frunció el ceño. Su maleta no apareció en la cinta de equipaje.
Se acercó al mostrador y dijo: "Disculpe, creo que mi equipaje no llegó". La empleada miró la computadora y respondió: "Sí, aquí está. La enviamos en el próximo vuelo. Puede recogerla esta noche". María pidió que la llevaran al hotel, y la empleada aceptó. María respiró hondo y dijo: "De acuerdo, gracias".
Después tomó el autobús que iba al centro. En el asiento de al lado, un hombre le preguntó si era turista. María sonrió y dijo que sí. Él le recomendó un mercado cerca del hotel y un café con buen desayuno.
Cuando llegó al hotel, la recepcionista le entregó la llave y le explicó que su habitación estaba en el segundo piso. María subió con su mochila, abrió la puerta y vio una cama limpia y una ventana grande. Entonces notó algo raro. El aire acondicionado no funcionaba.
Bajó de nuevo y avisó en recepción. El encargado se disculpó y dijo que un técnico llegaría en una hora. María pensó en cancelar su salida, pero no quiso quedarse encerrada. Salió a caminar, compró una botella de agua y siguió el consejo del hombre del autobús.
Visitó el mercado, probó fruta fresca y compró un imán para su nevera. Más tarde, volvió al hotel. El técnico ya había arreglado el aire acondicionado y la maleta por fin estaba en su habitación. María sonrió. El día no empezó como esperaba, pero terminó muy bien.

3 · English Translation
The full story in English
María arrived at the airport very early. She was going to spend four days on vacation in a coastal city. She was carrying a small backpack and a cellphone in her hand. Her plan was to take a bus to the center and rest at the hotel.
When she got off the plane, she saw a long line in the baggage area. An employee announced that a suitcase had been left at the departure airport. María checked her ticket and frowned. Her suitcase did not appear on the baggage carousel.
She went to the counter and said, "Excuse me, I think my luggage did not arrive." The employee looked at the computer and replied, "Yes, here it is. We will send it on the next flight. You can pick it up tonight." María asked for it to be delivered to the hotel, and the employee agreed. María took a deep breath and said, "Okay, thank you."
After that, she took the bus that went to the center. In the seat next to her, a man asked if she was a tourist. María smiled and said yes. He recommended a market near the hotel and a café with a good breakfast.
When she arrived at the hotel, the receptionist handed her the key and explained that her room was on the second floor. María went up with her backpack, opened the door, and saw a clean bed and a large window. Then she noticed something strange. The air conditioner was not working.
She went downstairs again and let reception know. The manager apologized and said that a technician would arrive in an hour. María thought about canceling her outing, but she did not want to stay shut inside. She went out for a walk, bought a bottle of water, and followed the advice of the man she met on the bus.
She visited the market, tried fresh fruit, and bought a magnet for her fridge. Later, she returned to the hotel. The technician had already fixed the air conditioner and the suitcase was finally in her room. María smiled. The day did not start as she expected, but it ended very well.
