La historia
Lucía llegó al hotel poco antes de las ocho. Había tomado un camión desde la terminal y traía la computadora en la mochila y el celular casi sin batería. Quería descansar un rato antes de su reunión del día siguiente. En la recepción, sonrió y dijo que tenía una reserva a nombre de Lucía Herrera.
El recepcionista revisó la pantalla y frunció el ceño. «Sí aparece su nombre, pero solo hay una noche pagada», le explicó. Lucía abrió los ojos. Ella estaba segura de que había pedido dos noches. Sacó su celular y buscó el correo de confirmación. El recepcionista esperó con paciencia, aunque detrás de ella ya había otra persona haciendo fila.
Por fin encontró el mensaje. Lo leyó despacio y sintió vergüenza. Había reservado una sola noche porque había copiado un enlace viejo de su oficina. «Qué pena», dijo. «Me equivoqué yo». El recepcionista no hizo caras. Le preguntó si quería extender la estancia y le explicó que, si había disponibilidad, podían mantener la misma habitación.
Lucía aceptó, pero todavía tenía una duda. «¿Se puede hacer eso ahorita?», preguntó. El recepcionista sonrió. «Sí, claro. Sale más barato que buscar otro hotel a estas horas». Revisó el sistema otra vez y confirmó que había una habitación libre para la segunda noche. Luego le pidió su tarjeta y actualizó la reserva.
Cuando terminó, Lucía soltó el aire. Ya no estaba tan cansada. Subió a su cuarto, dejó la mochila sobre la cama y miró por la ventana. Pensó que el viaje había empezado mal, pero no había terminado mal. Antes de dormir, puso una alarma en el celular y escribió un recordatorio: «Revisar siempre la reserva».

The full story in English
Lucía arrived at the hotel a little before eight. She had taken a bus from the station and had the computer in her backpack and the cell phone almost out of battery. She wanted to rest for a while before her meeting the next day. At the front desk, she smiled and said that she had a reservation under the name of Lucía Herrera.
The receptionist checked the screen and frowned. “Yes, your name appears, but there is only one paid night,” he explained. Lucía opened her eyes wide. She was sure that she had asked for two nights. She took out her cell phone and searched for the confirmation email. The receptionist waited patiently, although behind her there was already another person in line.
At last she found the message. She read it slowly and felt embarrassed. She had booked only one night because she had copied an old link from her office. “What a shame,” she said. “I was the one who made the mistake.” The receptionist did not make faces. He asked her if she wanted to extend the stay and explained that, if there was availability, they could keep the same room.
Lucía agreed, but she still had a question. “Can that be done right now?” she asked. The receptionist smiled. “Yes, of course. It is cheaper than looking for another hotel at this hour.” He checked the system again and confirmed that there was a free room for the second night. Then he asked for her card and updated the reservation.
When it was done, Lucía let out a breath. She was no longer so tired. She went up to her room, put the backpack on the bed, and looked out the window. She thought the trip had started badly, but it had not ended badly. Before sleeping, she set an alarm on the cell phone and wrote a reminder: “Always check the reservation”.
