La historia
Ana salió de su apartamento a las seis. Había terminado su tarea en la computadora antes de tiempo y quería despejarse. Le escribió a Luis: “Voy al centro. Nos vemos allí a las siete”. Antes de bajar, tomó su chaqueta y revisó el celular otra vez.
Luis ya estaba en la calle cuando empezó a llover fuerte. Miró su celular y vio el mensaje de Ana. Pensó que ella llegaría primero al restaurante, así que siguió caminando sin apurarse. En la esquina, un hombre cerró su puesto y le dijo que buscara un lugar seco. Luis sonrió, porque aún tenía tiempo.
Pero el agua cayó más y más. Luis entró en una farmacia para esperar un momento. Desde allí le mandó otro texto a Ana: “Estoy cerca, pero me quedé bajo la lluvia”. La lluvia sonaba en el techo, y él empezó a pensar que tal vez ella estaba dentro del restaurante.
Ana recibió el mensaje cuando estaba frente al restaurante. Ella pensó que Luis ya había llegado. Esperó diez minutos y luego llamó. “No te veo”, dijo. Luis respondió: “Estoy en la farmacia de la esquina. ¿Tú dónde estás?” Ana miró la entrada y entendió el error.

Ana left her apartment at six. She had finished her work on the computer early and wanted a change of scene. She wrote to Luis: “I am going downtown. We will meet there at seven.” Before going down, she took her jacket and checked her phone again.
Luis was already on the street when it started to rain hard. He looked at his phone and saw Ana’s message. He thought that she would arrive at the restaurant first, so he kept walking without hurrying. At the corner, a man closed his stand and told him to look for a dry place. Luis smiled, because he still had time.
But the rain came down more and more. Luis went into a pharmacy to wait a moment. From there he sent Ana another text: “I am close, but I got caught in the rain.” The rain sounded on the roof, and he began to think that maybe she was inside the restaurant.
Ana received the message when she was in front of the restaurant. She thought that Luis had already arrived. She waited ten minutes and then called. “I do not see you,” she said. Luis answered: “I am at the pharmacy on the corner. Where are you?” Ana looked at the entrance and understood the mistake.
They both laughed when they understood the confusion. Ana crossed the street carefully and found him under the awning. “We should change our plan,” she said. “Let’s get something quick and then watch a movie.” They bought two turnovers and a soda. After that, they walked to a nearby café, talked about their day, and watched the rain from the window. The night was still damp, but it no longer mattered.
In the end, the night did not go as they had thought, but it turned out well. Luis told Ana that he liked not staying at home. She smiled and answered that, sometimes, a simple plan can be better than a big one. When they left, the rain had already eased and the air felt fresh.
