La historia
Mariana llamó a Luis el viernes por la tarde. Quería salir después del trabajo porque llevaba una semana muy larga. Luis dijo que sí de inmediato. «Podemos cenar y luego ir al cine», le dijo. Ella sonrió porque necesitaba descansar un poco.
Ella propuso un restaurante cerca de su casa. También dijo que había un autobús que pasaba por la avenida principal. Luis respondió que la llamaría en su celular a las siete y media. Mariana entendió otra cosa. Pensó que se verían a las siete y media exactas. Por eso empezó a arreglarse con calma y salió un poco antes.
A las siete, Mariana ya estaba en la puerta del restaurante. Esperó diez minutos y empezó a mirar el teléfono. No veía ningún mensaje nuevo. Entonces llamó a Luis. The full story in English
Mariana called Luis on Friday afternoon. She wanted to go out after work because she had had a very long week. Luis said yes right away. “We can have dinner and then go to the movies,” he told her. She smiled because she needed to rest a little.
She suggested a restaurant near her house. She also said that there was a bus that went along the main avenue. Luis replied that he would call her on his cell phone at seven thirty. Mariana understood something else. She thought they would meet exactly at seven thirty. For that reason, she started getting ready calmly and left a little earlier.
At seven, Mariana was already at the restaurant door. She waited ten minutes and started looking at her phone. She did not see any new message. Then she called Luis. He answered surprised. “I said that I would call you at seven thirty,” he explained. Mariana stayed silent for a second and then laughed. “I thought you were coming earlier,” she admitted.
Luis arrived at seven thirty, as he had promised. Mariana was already calmer. They went into the restaurant and ordered dinner. While they ate, they talked about work, the movies, and the plan for the weekend. After that they walked to the corner movie theater. On the way, Mariana saw an open bakery and bought some cookies for later.
The movie started late because there was a technical problem. Neither of them got upset. In fact, Mariana said that the night had turned out better than expected. Luis agreed. “Next time, we confirm the time by message,” she said. “Agreed,” he replied. And they left happy, less hungry, and wanting to repeat the plan.
