La historia
Mariana llegó a su departamento a las seis. Venía cansada del trabajo y solo quería descansar. Metió la llave en la cerradura, pero no entró. La movió otra vez y sintió algo raro. La puerta parecía trabada. Miró el número de su puerta y luego revisó su bolsa.
Entonces oyó pasos en el pasillo. Su vecino Luis salió de su puerta y la miró con sorpresa. "¿Todo bien?", le preguntó. Mariana levantó la llave y dijo: "Creo que se parecía mucho a la tuya". Luis frunció el ceño y señaló la cerradura. Mariana notó su tono serio y pensó que tal vez estaba molesto.
Mariana se puso nerviosa. Pensó que Luis estaba molesto porque ella había tratado de abrir su puerta. Él respiró hondo y le dijo: "No pasa nada. A mí también me pasó una vez". 3 · English Translation
The full story in English
Mariana arrived at her apartment at six. She was tired from work and only wanted to rest. She put the key into the lock, but it did not go in. She moved it again and felt something strange. The door seemed stuck. She looked at her door number and then checked her bag.
Then she heard footsteps in the hallway. Her neighbor Luis came out of his door and looked at her with surprise. "Is everything okay?" he asked her. Mariana held up the key and said: "I think it looked a lot like yours." Luis frowned and pointed at the lock. Mariana noticed his serious tone and thought that maybe he was upset.
Mariana got nervous. She thought Luis was angry because she had tried to open his door. He took a deep breath and told her: "It's okay. It happened to me once too." Then he checked the key with her and saw that the tip was bent. "That's why it would not go in," he explained. Then Mariana understood that the correct key was in another bag.
Luis went for a small toolbox and took out some pliers. Carefully he straightened the key a little. Then he tested it in Mariana's door. This time it worked. Mariana smiled and said: "How embarrassing. I was already thinking I had caused a problem." Luis laughed and replied: "No, it was just a scare." Mariana closed the correct bag well and put the key away more carefully.
Mariana thanked him several times. Before going in, she asked Luis to go with her the next day to make a new copy. He agreed without any problem. Later, while she was finally closing her door, Mariana thought that a wrong idea had grown very fast. But she also thought that speaking in time had avoided an unnecessary argument.
