The story

El cuaderno en el autobús

The Notebook on the Bus

On Saturday morning Clara took the bus to visit her grandmother. She carried a notebook with recipes from her family. During the trip she wrote a new idea for a soup. When she got off near the market she left the notebook on the seat.

Ten minutes later Clara opened her bag and noticed that the notebook was missing. She returned to the stop but the bus had already left. She was very worried because some recipes were very old. Then she called the company and explained where she had traveled.

On the bus a student named Diego found the notebook. He saw a library card with Clara's name. He did not have her phone number but he knew the librarian. Diego got off at the next stop and went to the library.

The librarian called Clara and gave her good news. Diego was going to return at twelve. Clara arrived early and waited beside the entrance. When Diego appeared he handed her the notebook. Clara checked every page and smiled.

To thank him Clara invited Diego to eat with her grandmother. He accepted and bought bread at the market. That afternoon they made the soup from the new recipe. Her grandmother added a little lemon. The three of them decided to write that change in the notebook.
