Una foto del barrio

A Photo of the Neighborhood

On Saturday Elena visited her neighborhood cultural center for the first time. There was an exhibition of old photos of Caracas. Admission was free. Elena brought her cell phone to take photos. Her grandmother lived near the center and knew those streets well.

On one wall she saw a photo of three women in front of a shop. One woman had a white dress and a bag of flowers. Elena recognized her grandmother. However, there were no names below the photo. Only the street and the year appeared.

Elena looked for the exhibition organizer. His name was Luis. She showed him the photo and explained the situation. Luis smiled. He needed more information about the people in the photos. Elena called her grandmother from the courtyard.

Her grandmother confirmed the story. That day she bought flowers for her mother's birthday. The other women were her sisters. Elena decided to ask permission before sharing their names. Her grandmother agreed and promised to visit the exhibition on Sunday.

Luis wrote the three names on a new card. Elena read them aloud to check the information. Everything was correct. Before leaving, she took a photo of the card. Now her grandmother also had a small place in the neighborhood's history.
