El almuerzo de las vacaciones

The Vacation Lunch

No querían volver a casa todavía.

Laura and Andrés were on vacation near the sea. On Friday they left early to spend the day at the beach. Laura brought a bag with towels. Andrés brought water and a book. They both wanted to rest.

They found a spot under a tree and left their things there. Then they walked along the beach and swam a little. At noon they were hungry. Laura opened the bag and looked for lunch. There were only towels and two plates.

Andrés looked at the bag. "The food is on the kitchen table," he said. Laura remembered the bread and fruit. The house was far away. They did not want to go back home yet. Then they saw a shop near the beach.

At the shop they asked for something to eat. The woman had bread and tomatoes. She also sold eggs. They bought food for both of them and returned to the tree. Andrés cut the tomatoes. Laura put lunch on the plates.

They ate calmly by the sea. Afterward Laura slept for a while and Andrés read his book. They returned in the afternoon. The food was still in the kitchen. They saved it for dinner. Their small problem now had a solution.
