Un paraguas para Laura
An Umbrella for Laura
Marta no podía salir.
No vio otra puerta.
"¡Llegó a tiempo!", dijo Laura.
On Saturday morning, Andrés went out to buy bread. His neighbor Marta was beside the stairs. She had a blue umbrella in her hand. "Can you do me a favor?" she asked. Andrés put his bag on the floor and listened.
Marta's daughter worked at the neighborhood library. Her name was Laura and she finished work at noon. She had no umbrella and the sky was very dark. Marta could not go out. She was expecting a visitor.
Andrés agreed to take the umbrella. The library was on the way to the bakery. He walked there without any problems. But the main door was closed. There was a piece of paper with a message in the window.
The message said: "Today we are using the side entrance." Andrés looked on both sides of the building. He did not see another door. Then a woman came out with several books. Andrés asked her about Laura.
The woman worked there and took him to a small door. Laura was nearby with her jacket on. Andrés handed her the umbrella and explained the favor. At that moment it started to rain.
"You arrived in time!" said Laura. Then they walked together to the bakery under the blue umbrella. Andrés bought the bread. Laura bought two sweet rolls to share with her mom.
