En un baile, él prestó mucha atención a Jane, la mayor. A primera vista, parecía un joven amable y abierto, muy diferente de su amigo Darcy.
Darcy apenas conversó con los demás y rechazó la idea de bailar con Elizabeth. Ella oyó su comentario poco amable. Elizabeth, por su parte, convirtió el incidente en una historia divertida para sus amigas. Sin embargo, se quedó con una mala opinión de él. Mrs Bennet wanted her five daughters to marry well because the family’s future was not secure. The wealthy Bingley’s arrival caught her interest. At a dance, he paid Jane, the eldest, a great deal of attention. At first sight, he seemed kind and open, very different from his friend Darcy.
Darcy barely spoke to the others and rejected the idea of dancing with Elizabeth. She heard his unkind comment. Elizabeth, for her part, turned the incident into an amusing story for her friends. However, she retained a poor opinion of him. Jane and Bingley began to grow closer, while Elizabeth increasingly distrusted Darcy.
