Elizabeth Bennet vive con sus padres y sus cuatro hermanas. Su madre quiere buenos matrimonios para todas. Un joven rico, Bingley, llega a la zona. En un baile conoce a Jane, la hermana mayor, y baila con ella. A primera vista, los dos se gustan mucho.
Darcy, el amigo de Bingley, es rico también, pero habla poco. No quiere bailar con Elizabeth y dice algo desagradable sobre ella. Elizabeth, por su parte, se ríe con sus amigas, aunque está molesta. Piensa que Darcy es orgulloso. Todavía no conoce los motivos de su silencio.
Elizabeth Bennet lives with her parents and her four sisters. Her mother wants good marriages for them all. A wealthy young man, Bingley, arrives in the area. At a dance he meets Jane, the eldest sister, and dances with her. At first sight, they like each other very much.
Darcy, Bingley’s friend, is rich too, but he speaks little. He does not want to dance with Elizabeth and says something unkind about her. Elizabeth, for her part, laughs with her friends, although she is upset. She thinks Darcy is proud. She does not yet know the reasons for his silence.
