Review the connections
Check reflexive and object pronouns separately from verb endings. In past narration, distinguish the scene from events viewed as completed wholes. For a plan, keep the infinitive after ir a. Use the relationship between ideas to choose por, para or a comparison connector.
Read the passage once for the situation and again for the details. Identify who performs each action, the time reference and any contrast or change. If a verb is unfamiliar, use the surrounding sentence before checking the translation. The final questions combine form and meaning, so choose an answer that fits both.
Antes, Julia iba al trabajo en coche. Ayer decidió probar el tren porque quería leer durante el viaje. Se levantó temprano, pero perdió el primer tren. Compró otro billete y llegó media hora más tarde de lo previsto. Le escribió un mensaje a su compañero para explicar el retraso. Mañana va a salir antes. Aunque el tren cuesta menos, todavía quiere comparar las dos opciones.
Julia used to drive to work. Yesterday she decided to try the train because she wanted to read during the journey. She got up early but missed the first train. She bought another ticket and arrived half an hour later than planned. She wrote a message to her colleague to explain the delay. Tomorrow she is going to leave earlier. Although the train costs less, she still wants to compare both options.
